Homoeopathic Medicine Selection

Homoeopathy is an art of healing by matching the personality of sick person with the personality of the thoroughly proved drug. The perfect match is called 'Similimum'. The Similimum may be find out with the following way:

Symptomatic angle:

This is the most important way of Homoeopathic prescription. Homoeopathy is an art of healing by matching the symptoms and personality of sick persons with the symptoms and personality of thoroughly proved drug. The perfect match making is called 'Similimum'. In Homoeopathic Materia medica (contains symptoms of proved drug) there are lots of medicine which can cure say tonsillitis but the perfect one should be selected which has got maximum similarity with the presenting symptoms of the patients and which will cure the patient magically. So we have to know the drug picture (symptoms) of some proved drugs to find out perfect medicine for a patient. It will be very easy to remember the symptoms of a medicine on which prescription will have to make if you know the common symptoms of a disease; the only thing you have to remember is the uncommon peculiar symptom of a drug. So, symptoms presented by the patients (sufferings of the Vital force) are the most correct Homoeopathic angle of prescription to perform the miracle for which our Homoeopathic ancestors were named and famed. Etiological angle In some cases traumatic injury (mental & physical) received long years ago, drug addiction, past history and family history of the patient, environment, and other numerous factor give us a clue to achieve the Similimum.

Etiological angle:

Let us take an example from Nash's Materia medica (page no 75) "I once cured a man who had suffered from what he and his physician had called dyspepsia for several years. He had been told by his physician he never be well again and had given up hopes himself. This condition is caused by the kick of a horse upon the region of stomach. A few doses of Arnica 200th dilution (Homoeopathic medicine in centesimal scale) cured him in a short time and he resumed his business".
(Here Arnica montana is selected as the complain was originated from trauma i. e., upon the causative factor. It is a good medicine for acute and remote complications of trauma.

Organ based prescription:

Here medicine is chosen according to the sphere of action of the Homoeopathic drug found during the process of drug proving and prescription is made only on the basis of drug affinity and tissue affinity, i.e. carcinoma in liver, arthritic disorder may be treated with 'Chelidonium' and 'Rhus tox' (Homoeopathic medicine) respectively as Chelidonium has got specific action upon Liver and Rhus tox upon muscle, tissue and joints.
